After 17 years’ experience operating and repairing heavy machinery, I’ve learned the difference between a millwright and a millwrong. With that, I’ve cultivated a team of reliable and resourceful millwrights & electricians who make sure details, a team effort, safety and high standards are central to how we solve problems every day.Since opening in 2012, BNV Mechanical has established itself as the go-to Maintenance service provider for Water & Wastewater, pipeline and oil and gas facilities. Serving as the dedicated maintenance team for seven Class 1 and Class 2 plants in Fort McMurry, we have strived to provide effective cost efficient expertise to our clients of all sizes. . Growing the company from one man and a truck to a team of skilled maintenance professionals took a passion for making sure machines work the way they’re supposed to, and the belief that we are responsible for ensuring future generations have access to clean water. Our team of millwrights & electricians can take care of any job, from maintenance consulting, solving one-time maintenance issues or to providing full-time embedded maintenance services.

Most notable was my work on the Suncor Energy site, where I worked as a team member in the construction of a 4100 BOSS Electric Shovel. I was also responsible for the day-to-day operations of additional equipment such as zoom-booms and man lifts, and managed the safe rigging procedures for dual crane lifts of up to 400,000 lbs.From the oil industry, I learned how to work safely in dangerous conditions and the importance of quick response in emergency situations.

As a member of the Engine Fitting department, I was responsible for the repair and overhaul of a wide range of mechanical equipment including: gearboxes, shaft lines, controlled range pitch propellers, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and generators. I had the opportunity to work closely with and learn from other trades and quality assurance representatives from around the world. This experience taught me how much can get down when a team works well together.

While working on ships at sea, I learned to be flexible and resourceful in challenging work environments. I supervised and carried out maintenance routines, operation, defect rectification and fault diagnostics on a wide range of marine engineering equipment including: GE LM2500 gas turbines, diesel engines, diesel generator sets, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, 85-ton refrigeration plants, centrifuges and separators, as well as fuel, oil and water systems. As a supervisor, I also made sure to carefully train junior personnel and maintain accurate records. My work here as an operator and maintenance millwright laid the foundation for how I operate BNV Mechanical today.
