From a young age, I've had a passion for entrepreneurship and problem-solving. I vividly remember my elementary school days, buying treats and popsicles to sell to the crowds of kids outside school. This early spark of entrepreneurship led me to freelance in graphic design, videography, and photography throughout high school and college—skills I taught myself over the years. In college, I co-founded a business renting out wedding supplies with my roommates, which later evolved into selling homemade brick oven pizzas from our back patio. We designed and built the oven from scratch, and I perfected the pizza dough and sauce recipes, eventually selling up to $500 worth of pizzas each weekend.I graduated from BYU with a bachelor's degree in design, emphasizing UX design, and a minor in entrepreneurship. This academic foundation, combined with my entrepreneurial spirit, set the stage for my next venture: Devote.Growing up in a household where my father worked with nonprofits for over 30 years, I was deeply inspired by the potential for good in the world. Through volunteering and working with various organizations, I saw firsthand the financial challenges nonprofits face. This motivated me to create Devote, a fintech solution designed to streamline and optimize nonprofit financial processes.Devote was born out of a desire to help nonprofits save time and money, enabling them to focus more on their mission. We started by addressing spend controls, corporate card management, and expense reconciliations. As we listened to our users, we expanded our platform to provide a comprehensive financial solution. Today, Devote offers:Spend and expense management through our specialized cardA high-yield account tailored for nonprofits, offering higher APY and FDIC insurance than any other account on the marketA donation platform that simplifies the collection and management of donationsAll of these services are provided at no cost to the nonprofits—no strings attached.Devote has now expanded to over 20 states, helping organizations of all sizes streamline their financial processes so they can focus on making a positive impact. My journey as the co-founder and CEO of Devote is driven by the belief that by elevating the financial efficiency of nonprofits, we can create a ripple effect of good in the world.
