Hello! I'm Brycon Carpenter. I was born in Berrien Springs, Michigan, but I spent most of my time growing up in Thomasville, NC. Currently, I am working in Philadelphia, PA for the Lincoln Financial Group, as an Application Developer Associate. My passions have always revolved around technology, which led me at an early age towards computer science. By age 10, I was beginning to program in Java. Video games played a large role in my love of programming. By stumbling across replicated source code of my favorite game, I began to manipulate and synthesize code. Since then, I have gone on to mature my programming skill and apply them to more real world applications. Following graduation from Appalachian in May 2017, I was offered a position at Lincoln Financial Group. I connected with this company after CodeLinc 3.0, a hackathon hosted by Lincoln to engage students in a project benefiting a local non-profit. The position was a 2 year experience in the Leadership Preparation Program (LPP), which led to placement elsewhere in the company. For my first year, I would be working out of the Philadelphia, PA office, requiring relocation from NC on my end. Here I would be working as an Associate Application Developer, working in Agile teams to create internal and external software solutions, based in the Java programming language - with Spring Framework - and using Angular 2.x framework. After the successful release of my first project with the company, I was given the opportunity to begin working in the mobile application space, developing both native and hybrid applications. For native applications, I worked with the Swift and Java programming languages, and for hybrid applications I leveraged the Ionic Framework. Please refer to my personal portfolio at www.bryconcarpenter.com and my github page at www.github.com/bryconc for more information on my activities.
