Started at Technician level and was promoted into Engineering. Primary area of expertise was the installation and qualification of semiconductor manufacturing equipment in the Thin Films department. The main equipment set was the Endura 5500 PVD which was supported by several analytical machines.The skillset needed for this role was diverse given the rapid pace of semiconductor manufacturing advances in technology. The major areas of the role included technical knowledge of the Equipment gained through academic training and use of the equipment whilst in production. The construction phase demanded tight control of the schedule whilst maintaining the strict safety protocols common to all Intel sites.In preparation for each technology revision it was required to join the team in Phoenix, learn the required process and then return to Leixlip to replicate the process there.

Royal Navy, Fleet Air Arm Air Engineering Artificer. Completed the Avionics apprenticeship and was promoted to Petty Officer in 1989. Served at RNAS Culdrose and RNAS Prestwick. Was fortunate to also serve on HMS Ark Royal, a terrible shame it has been decommissioned.Successfully completed the Leadership course and then the Divisional Officers course.Attended and was successful at the Chief Petty Officers selection panel and shortly afterwards, attained the authority so certify aircraft 'fit to fly', following maintenance.
