Bootstrapped sustainable delivery and operations practices for a global team of network engineers located across four time zones. Led the delivery of projects that optimized and scaled the footprint and capabilities of Riot Direct, Riot Games’ internally developed and managed global ISP/Backbone/Edge network; responsible for managing, monitoring, expanding, and maintaining all network DDOS protection and prevention, CDN usage, and peering circuits and relationships, all focused on improving both Internal Rioter and League of Legends’ Player Experiences worldwide.• Leveraged relationships with Finance and Purchasing partners to streamline financial decision making and execution for connectivity and hardware acquisition.• Introduced project planning and execution concepts, define frameworks and processes, charter teams and projects, coach and mentor team members for performance• Created operations group of engineers to define, document, manage, and improve emergent work streams; e.g., defining SLAs, improving time-to-repair, incident reporting, monitoring of the network, and creating and optimizing repeatable processes.

Originated centralized project management across the Technical Operations Organization; responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of EdgeCast’s global Content Delivery Network (CDN). • Drove the capacity program expanding the company’s network footprint from less than 500Gbps and 13 Points of Presence to a 25Tbps-capacity network, spanning 93 Points of Presence on five continents, providing content and video lifecycle services.• Planned and executed checklist-driven ‘Open Heart Surgery’ in our POPs; high profile upgrades hot-swapping critical routing gear, while maintaining uninterrupted service to our customers.• Led cross-functional teams, with many team members in different countries and time zones, to procure, ship, install, provision, and bring to production, multi-million dollar deployments on a weekly basis. • Established daily Technical Operations meeting to discuss recent and current issues / projects in the company, resulting in a daily bulletin that became the heartbeat of the Technology organization• Instituted detailed process and learning reviews that developed into a companywide change management and control program.• Helped build a great work culture that increased productivity, team building, and lead to lifelong friendships across the company (from CEO to entry-level hires).• Organized Systems Operations into Agile Scrum/Kanban teams, multiplying their throughput and productivity within months.

Co-founder and organizer of the first ever SoCal DevOps Meetups, a recurring series of events that brought together development and operations engineers with leaders in the DevOps community. Within two months of inception, the community grew to more than 250 members with approximately 150 people in attendance at fully-sponsored events that took place every two months. Now expanded into multiple groups, city-wide, and a day-long conference, DevOpsDayLA.

Managed the Technical Operations Program consisting of Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, Systems Engineering, Database Administration, Source Control/Release Management, Information Security and Compliance, IT/Helpdesk, Datacenter Operations and Network Management teams, across development and operations for the fifth largest advertising network on the Internet, serving, at its peak, 7 billion ad impressions daily with a reach of 160 million users.
