Phd Candidate
My doctoral research focuses on the ecological biogeography of deep-sea fishes in remote, understudied deep ocean frontiers off Eastern Canada. Baited cameras were used to explore diversity and distributions of deep-water fishes and invertebrates within the Canadian Arctic, with emphasis on spatial patterns and abundance of the elusive and long-lived Greenland shark. With the help of a remotely-operated vehicle, fish habitat relationships were investigated along the continental slopes of the Flemish Cap. And finally, the influence of warm-core ring currents on the local distribution and diversity of open-ocean mesopelagic fishes was examined in the northwest Atlantic Ocean.
