Under the supervision of the Director of the La Vida Center for Outdoor Education and Leadership, I serve as the Program Director of .Compass is a one-month intensive leadership program for high school youth. The program consists of three phases: wilderness, theology, and ministry. During the wilderness phase, students embark on a 10-day back country trip with the La Vida program. In the theology phase, students engage with world-renown professors from a local seminary and the college. Finally, during the ministry phase, students travel abroad to engage and minister in a cross-cultural context. Previous destinations have included Mexico, Costa Rice, Nicaragua and Iceland. My Essential responsibilities consist of designing, planning and implementing both the Compass Program each summer. In addition, I oversee all staff recruitment and development, administrative details, budgetary development and maintenance, program development and fundraising. Having worked in the outdoor industry both as a guide and on a management level, and studied theology for three years, this job description is an ideal combination of my passions and skills leadership development programs.

As recipient of a full-tuition, four-year college scholarship, I was a contracted cadet and a member of the Reserve Officers Training Corps throughout all of my undergraduate career. Upon graduation, I was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army Reserve. I graduated as in the top 11th percentile of all cadets in the nation for my year and I was ranked as a top give cadet by my platoon at the Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) which all ROTC cadets have to go through. But, due to a newly developed belief in the Christian call to non-violence, I selected to spend my duty obligation in the Army Reserves Medical Corps with my area of concentration (AOC) being Health Services Administration. During my time with the 455th Medical Company out of Devens, Massachusetts, where I have served since 2011, I have acted not only as my company's executive officer (XO), a position usually filled by a ranking officer three grades above my own, but have also served as the Master Fitness Trainer. My duties have been developing unit awareness, managing operational logistics and training all soldiers in physical fitness. My time with the Army has taught me how to problem solve in high stress situations, how to command and coordinate major operations and how to lead and develop subordinates as well as how to trust and to observe the orders of my superiors.
