While undertaking my Bachelor of Pharmacy with RMIT University, I have been offered the position of Pharmacist Student with Blooms The Chemist at both Essendon and Casey Central stores. I couldn't be more excited in this new venture alongside my studies. I am forever grateful for this community pharmacy network and its support thus far.

In addition to being a Pharmacy Assistant for 3 years, I began as a Dispensary Technician last December. It is within my duties to dispense prescription medication and handle S2/S3 medications, for which I have an issued certificate. I also organise stock management, which involves ordering, stocktake, consolidation, storage, and disposal of various prescription medications. I also am involved and very familiar with PBS, Safety Net, LanternPay (WorkCover or TAC charges) and NDSS claims. On the pharmacy floor, I assist patients with other medicines or vitamins and offer advice on their minor conditions under the recommendation of Pharmacists. Overall, my duties lie within assisting the Pharmacist in the sale and preparation of prescription medication, by running clean and orderly dispensary operations.

As a pharmacy assistant, it is within my duties to serve customers with their needs, and I make it my mission to meet these needs and go above and beyond in every interaction. I believe that within community pharmacy, my role goes beyond just assisting pharmacists within the preparation and the sale of medication. It focusses on supporting patients as a whole in every aspect of their health. For example, I have taken it upon myself to manage weight-loss sessions and help patients reach their personal goals. I also am a Sleep Apnoea consultant and help provide CPAP therapy in our clinic. I also assist with managerial roles such as banking and stock management. I’ve undergone many product trainings and even have a certification in the handling and supply of S2/S3 medications. I am honoured to hold a position in this pharmacy, and thoroughly enjoy being a part of a Blooms store in Victoria.

As a maintenance worker, I learned to operate vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, snow blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws. As a part of this, I also performed groundskeeping, which included operating mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers. I took care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls. I undertook this job alongside my schooling, which allowed me to learn critical skills in time management, and further understanding the meaning of hard labour.
