About Bryony Windsor
Strategic Lead for culture and creative industries at the West Midlands Combined Authority. I joined WMCA as Policy Lead, Culture, in September 2023 on secondment from ACE to lead on the delivery of the Commonwealth Games Legacy Enhancement Fund Culture Pillar, Trailblazer Deeper Devolution Deal commitments for culture, and develop WMCAs first Culture Strategy and connect culture in all policy areas of the WMCA. Prior to my secondment, I joined Arts Council England as Relationship Manager (Visual Arts), Midlands in July 2018. My role at ACE focused on building empowering and enduring relationships with a portfolio of funded organisations across the Midlands, including monitoring performance and working with stakeholders to identify opportunities and challenges within the sector.Formerly, I was Head of Exhibitions at the National Centre for Craft & Design (NCCD) for four years in which my objectives were to curate, develop, strategically plan and direct an ambitious and innovative artistic programme, including exhibitions, touring, learning and education. As a member of the SMT, I played a key role in the strategic development of the venue as a national artistic and cultural institution.I formed part of the first group of Independent Peer Reviewers for Creative Scotland to help to deliver an Artistic and Creative Review Framework in 2016/2017.I have also worked as a freelance Culture Consultant for West Kilbride Community Initiative & Craft Town Scotland.I am a specialist in culture, visual arts, cultural policy, and contemporary craft with over ten years' experience in curation. I started my career with a degree in Contemporary Craft before becoming Assistant Director at The Scottish Gallery, Scotland's oldest high-end commercial gallery, 2008 - 2014.
