Worked with the Nuance Cloud Enablement team to research and outline an instrumentation and distributed tracing framework for their suite of microservices for higher quality logging and debugging information. Built proof of concept microservices utilizing Microsoft Azure and Java and prepared them for distributed tracing using the OpenTelemetry API combined with Microsoft Azure Monitor App Insights. Ran experiments to determine the most ergonomic and efficient ways for Nuance developers to instrument their code such that desirable app/service-level information can be obtained. Deployed apps and MySQL databases to the cloud via the Microsoft Azure Portal and Azure CLI

Worked with the GCE Host SRE team to design and implement tooling for monitoring Cloud’s entire fleet of machines numbering in the thousands. Used internal dialect of SQL to aggregate data from multiple sources into a single dataset of machines being temporarily removed from service. Developed a dashboard of various charts and graphs with data queried from the aggregated table that display metrics to easily visualize and analyze machine fleet health. Created a CLI tool in Go using Cobra that allows engineers to list debug information about machines being removed from service by querying information from aggregated dataset. Went through entire software development lifecycle for CLI tool including proposal, review, testing, and final implementation.

Worked with the Travel Ads team on improving automated bidding to increase conversion value for advertising partners while keeping return on ad spend as neutral as possible. Used internal C++ MapReduce tool to generate model parameters based on past ad performance and tuned parameters via feedback loop. Ran experiments and analyzed model output to tweak parameters and behavior of the pipeline. Added debugging output to parameter generation. Wrote test cases for functional and pipeline code in C++ and Java.
