Directed the 24/7 operations of a team of 22 personnel managing a global array of more than 150 sensors and network appliances protecting the Navy’s Information Network.Supervised the creation of nearly 1,400 network signatures on Cisco and McAfee Intrusion Protection Systems as well as a proprietary Linux-based Intrusion Detection System (IDS).Collaboratively revised detailed standard operation procedures (SOPs), applying lessons learned and adapting to emergent threats and technologies.Regularly briefed senior leadership as a subject matter expert on network countermeasures, providing risk-informed recommendations in support of operational decisions.

Lead and performed quality control for nine sailors who provided sensor monitoring, performed in-depth analysis on network traffic, and cyber incident reporting.Oversaw the training and qualifications of team members as network forensic analysts, ensuring technical ability and knowledge base met standards to perform duties. Efforts resulted in 100% qualification of team members.Managed team members in the analysis and reporting of 1,340 cyber events leading to the mitigation of 341 attempted compromises over a six month period.

Provided forward deployed Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) capabilities to 14 US Navy ships over a period of 18 months deployed with a custom suite of tools to analyze internal network traffic in order to detect and mitigate threats to naval weapon systems.Detected, reported, and lead the mitigation of 201 confirmed cyber threats through detailed packet analysis over the span of two deployments totaling 18 months.Effective Instructor. Presented a total of 164 hours of weekly training to 22 network administrators and 72 endpoint users covering emergent threat techniques and reinforcing incident response procedures. Dedicated efforts resulted in 63% reduction in process mistakes and a significant improvement in operational efficiency.Responsible for briefing Strike Group leadership on current cyber space defensive posture, emerging threats, and incidents enabling upper leadership to understand the results of technical analysis in order to make informed decisions in a wartime environment.
