At the ISU Alumni Center I am responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing meetings and events for the Alumni Center. I work with events that are held by the Alumni Association, Iowa State University, student organizations, and the general public that include meetings, conferences, wedding ceremonies/receptions, banquets, and special events. I also coordinates event setup and execution. I work directly with clients, negotiates contracts/rates, which includes working with vendors and caterers, billing clients, updating and maintaining records (including electronic scheduling system) and preparing event reports for all activities held at the Alumni Center. I also work with and lead up to 10 event staff student employees who assist with the set up and tear down of our events.To be successful, I have to utilize my excellent customer service, as well as my written and verbal communication skills. I have the ability to juggle multiple projects concurrently to meet deadlines, solve problems, and make sound decisions. Outstanding organizational skills and strong attention to detail are also needed in order be effective in this role.I have a hand in all of the marketing for the ISU Alumni Center, including but not limited to blogging, social media, sales blitz and more. I have created new documents to assist our department in becoming more efficient. I have helped create policies to make more-precise guidelines that are easier for our staff and clients to understand. I have created and participated in sales calls to past clients as well as analyzed competitors to ensure we are staying at the top of the market in service and offerings while staying priced correctly.I have been on the STAR Team (staff time and recognition) for the last year, and this year, I have been asked to chair the committee.
