Highlights from my recent experience include:• Reconstruction of two separate property groups to assist with IHT planning and the provision of shares to next generation management team.• Obtaining EIS relief on a start up company involved in personal healthcare.• Advising a family company on how to obtain Entrepreneurs Relief.• Advising on the utilisation of a group company based in Dubai. • FRS102 compliant group accounts for several contractors and developers. • Advising on the redevelopment of property held by various family members (some overseas) mitigating Capital Gains Tax and liabilities.• Extracting a farm from a land bank to be held personally by a family without tax penalties. • Advising on the SDLT and VAT issues on the development of house boats.• Helping with the sale of several businesses.• Creation of a new group of companies to assist with the development of pension fund owned commercial buildings into new housing/commercial offices to be held by the family (incorporating the use of trusts).• Advising a charity on the formation of a trading subsidiary.• Advising on the long term opportunities for a management buy out of a professional service firm involved in the construction industry. • Merging two separate companies with common shareholders to create a group.• Rolling a loss making company into a group to obtain corporate tax relief on trading loss.• Advising on the closing down of several companies to enable retirement and facilitate Entrepreneurs Relief Entitlement.Background:I was appointed a partner in MacIntyre Hudson in October 1983 (we subsequently rebranded the name to MHA MacIntyre Hudson). I am based at our North London office (second largest office in the group) and have the responsibility of office chairman reporting to our management board. Previous roles have included; being a member of the management board, audit compliance partner and the firm’s marketing partner.
