Classroom instruction introduced students to the legacy of Aviation and the American Space Program, while addressing current issues within the science and technology community. Participants learned the importance of teamwork and communication by participating in simulated astronaut training, realistic space shuttle missions, stress-inducing and time-sensitive physical challenges, and simulated jet-fighter pilot training. Working in small groups, the students were presented with “Challenges” to explore problem-solving scenarios using hands-on science, mathematics, and engineering skills. Many of the activities required students to present their findings or opinions to a panel of experts or their peers.• As Supervisor of HLCA, I was responsible for curriculum development and implementation of new activities. I also had the opportunity to the mentor the four Ambassadors each week. The ambassadors were responsible for training with staff, managing social media, and leading various activities for the HLCA participants. I escorted all campers to and from scheduled activities, maintained orderly behavior, and attended to any personal difficulties encountered by the campers such as illness or loss of personal items. • Other duties included, check in and check out procedures, early arrival/ late departure care, ensure safety of camper while operating all simulators, and conducing tours through the museum and other areas of the Space and Rocket Center.
