Developer responsibilities leading an agile team for an internal modernization effort. Includes Big Data components such as Spark, Hadoop (CDH), Hive, Kafka, Flume and integrating Big Data applications with execution and analytic tools like Jupyter. Also involves developing in various OO and Functional languages. (Java7/8, Scala, Clojure, Python) Heavy focus on Big Data environment monitoring, performance, and tuning. I am also heavily involved in our transition to AWS, with a focus on Spark execution process on EMR, and application/service design in EKS.A key goal is to provide our business area with the tools they need to analyze large volumes of data (TB and even PB) with relative speed. Some of these tools and processes need to interface with other traditional technologies or legacy systems, so there are elements of architecture design work as well.It's fast paced fun in an Agile world where we work directly with our business partners to guarantee an understanding of our goals and capabilities.
