Born in Richmond, raised in Charlotte, and educated in NC State, I received my degree in Computer Science but quickly realized that while computers do exactly what you tell them, people….not so much. Guided by a strong desire to have a major impact, I moved into leadership and succeeded in leading a number of software and hardware technology development teams ranging in size from 8 to over 800. As an avid student of leadership with a willingness to “try it and see”, I experimented with many techniques, tools, theories and concepts. The school of hard knocks got its name for a reason… but figuring out how to get people in roles they wanted to do and they were good at allowed more time to focus on leadership - a repeatable pattern which resulted in repeated success.As owner and lead guide at TrueNorth Business Navigation, I believe that most businesses are working their way down a path but haven't yet found their summit. I believe that most business owners are passionate about what they do, but struggle to infuse this passion into their team. I believe that most people want to work for a company that shares their values, their core beliefs and that they want to spend every single day doing what they are uniquely qualified to do.I know how to make these things happen....
