I was the head of Macquarie's (formerly Delaware Investments) Private Placement Group from 2004-2017. In that role I led a team of financial analysts and was responsible for all aspects of managing a $12.9 billion portfolio of privately placed debt, private equity and hedge fund investments. During my tenure as a senior member of the private placement group we committed in excess of $20 billion across a broad spectrum of fixed income investments, and I also executed over $1 billion in secondary bond trades. In alternative investments, I led the fund selection, due diligence and approval processes for over $450 million of private equity and hedge fund commitments.

As a member of Lincoln's Mezzanine Finance Group, I was the lead investment professional on over $60 million of subordinated debt and private equity transactions, and assisted in the monitoring of Lincoln's mezzanine and private equity portfolios.

I was the primary in-house derivatives counsel at Lincoln with respect to a $10 billion (notional) derivatives portfolio, which included leading an initiative to modernize Indiana's insurance investment law to authorize the use of derivatives for hedging, income generation and replication. I also supported Lincoln's private placement team in negotiating, structuring, closing and funding investment grade private placements, mezzanine financings and private equity fund commitments.
