This role is a combination of on-location medical, safety and security support for clients, desktop planning, software development, consulting, and the day-to-day operations of a small business.

Developing World

In this role, I manage medical teams responding to disasters and humanitarian emergencies in the developing world. I also act as the safety and security focal point within the organisation.

As a rescue paramedic in remote areas, I had a number of responsibilities to help ensure the safety of people and the continuation of operations including; triage, treatment and evacuation of injured or ill staff, firefighting, the rescue of entrapped personnel, hydration monitoring, drug testing, supporting safety procedures, emergency management, training and incident investigations. These are incredibly diverse roles that require flexibility, resourcefulness and lateral thinking to achieve success.

In the position of General Manager, I was responsible for overseeing company operations, developing new business units, ensuring client satisfaction and managing risk to the company. At times this role was combined with project management and recruitment which provided variety and a solid understanding of running dynamic operations across different locations.

My full-time military career started as an Emergency Responder at an aviation base. After deploying to East Timor in 2009 as a member of an aeromedical/crash rescue team, I transferred to the Special Operations Engineer Regiment in Sydney, where I completed two rotations of Afghanistan as a part of the Special Operation Task Group. In this role, I was responsible for counter-IED operations, tactical site exploitation, and battlefield casualty support with the SOTG medics. In 2012, I transferred to the part-time forces to undertake University studies and was posted to reserve Combat Engineer units until my discharge.
