Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, Gounder Research Group (Heterogeneous Catalysis in Zeolites)→ Engaged in a project aimed at understanding the influence of textural and chemical properties of zeolites on reactivity and selectivity in the conversion of ethanol into aviation fuels.→ Validated a post-synthetic strategy for the introduction of mesoporosity in aluminum-rich ZSM-5 zeolites. Synthesized the corresponding micro-mesoporous materials.→ Characterized the textural properties (Nitrogen physisorption), crystallinity and purity (XRD), elemental composition (ICP-AES) and Brønsted acidity (TPD) of the catalysts. Analyzed the data and documented the results.

Provided learning support to engineering students attending courses in thermodynamics, physical chemistry and transport processes. Guided problem-solving, completion of assignments and exams preparation.

→ Advised fifth-year chemical engineering students on the development of group final course projects comprising the synthesis, conceptual design and optimization of a chemical process.→ Graded assignments.

Co-authored “Technical and economic prefeasibility study of hydrocarbon refrigerants production in Colombia”, a consultancy for the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development:→ Characterized the national market for the refrigerant grade hydrocarbons propane (R-290) and isobutane (R-600a): historical and current market size and prices, stakeholders and subsectors of application.→ Forecasted R-290 and R-600a demand in Colombia under different scenarios.

Research and Development: Powder Metal and Composites Department→ Collaborated with a R&D team focused on the design, engineering and testing of Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs).→ Developed and optimized an experimental methodology for the measurement of interfacial electrical resistances on materials employed in the manufacture of PEMFCs. Conducted measurements and analyzed and documented results.→ Supported experimental work in the ceramic and magnetic materials divisions.
