Senior Software Developer
CurrentHired to develop a formal week-long class, to teach Unisys MCP mainframe ALGOL language; a 40 hour training class with 10 students was professionally video-taped & uploaded to Udemy. Responsible for formal training of college graduate new-hires as well as experienced COBOL programmers, teaching them how to develop & write readable ALGOL. As a member of 2 teams, helped develop, & maintain the enterprise’s 2 mission critical Unisys MCP mainframe applications, using ALGOL, & COBOL.Responsible for DASDL & all related DMSII tailored software compiles, database reorgs, as well as DMSII release upgrades (upgraded ~30 DMSII databases from DMSII 58 to 60). Developed new processes, procedures, & documentation for database REORGs (same for DMSII release upgrades). Designed a form template to document database REORGs, whether for development, QA, or prod databases.Member of 6 month effort, adding major enhancement to one of two mission-critical applications. Responsible for creating 12 new screens; the editing of those screens; & the updating of various DMSII datasets, etc. This individual effort resulted in 7k lines of new ALGOL code for the existing screen-based program, along with 3k lines of ALGOL for a new stand-alone batch program. Designed & developed stand-alone 7k line ALGOL program to process (& send) updates to an outside third-party, when a specific outside critical event occurs.Upon colleague’s unexpected retirement, switched teams in order to replace them; thereby taking over the (successful) development (& release) of a multi-thousand line enhancement to the enterprise’s other mission critical application. Informally training inexperienced MCP mainframe programmers on the coding of WFL (job control language) jobs, DMSII (database), & other MCP related system/environmental software tools, such as CANDE, EDITOR, Programmer's Workbench, DMINQ, ERGO, Log Analyzer, etc.; creating training documentation.Successfully using Agile methodology.
