About Jonathan Mcmillan

I am a simple man who has lived a complicated life. My professional journey can be described as unconventional and hopefully inspiring to others to build and create their own better than average lives. I'm now a national leader in gun violence prevention with a background rooted in community advocacy and public health. Born and raised in Denver, my personal experiences with systemic challenges shaped my commitment to creating positive change. After years of direct outreach, violence interruption, and policy work, I served as the Director of the State Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Currently, as Director of the Firearm-Related Harm and Violence Prevention Office at Trailhead Institute, I focus on empowering communities to design and implement strategies that address firearm related harm and violence through a public health framework. Passionate about disrupting systems and creating better opportunities for underserved communities.
