I have been a firefighter in all types of departments including volunteer, combination and paid, for over 30 years. A career firefighter for nearly 25 years, I have served as an officer since 2000. I am currently the fire chief of the Pleasant Twp. Fire Department in Franklin County, Ohio. Protecting nearly 8000 residents, the PTFD is a combination department with 11 career and 40 part time personnel. We respond from a single fire station utilizing an engine, engine rescue, tanker, 2 ALS ambulances, and a brush truck. Specialty services include a grain bin rescue unit, water rescue and drafting unit. Daily staffing is 5-7 personnel. We provide extensive mutual aid in Franklin, Madison and Pickaway counties. Annual call volume is around 1100 calls per year. As the chief, I hold three associate degrees from Kent State University and a fourth in fire science. I am also a graduate of the Ohio Fire Executive Program Class 12. I am a certified firefighter, paramedic, Fire & EMS Instructor and Fire Safety Inspector in the State of Ohio. I have completed Fire Officer I, II & III, NIMS 100, 195, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800. I have also been an AHA CPR, ACLS, & PALS Instructor. I have also earned the honor of being credentialed by the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association. I have served at all ranks, and have been responsible for various duties throughout my career including running a Fire & EMS Training Center, Training Officer, Public Information Officer, Infectious Control/ Designated Officer, Water Rescue, and Fire Prevention/Education
