Promoted to CTO to lead and expand the company’s software product.In this role, I continued my previous work (backend ownership) and took the lead across the stack. I hired technical colleagues and tried my best to lead by example (”show, don’t tell”).We switched the backend–frontend API to GraphQL to promote a stronger interface and allow parallel development in our small team.Eventually, I re-focused our work on the backend only (with matching personnel consequences) and we then switched to server-side rendering to reduce codebase overhead even further.

Hired to take charge of the Python backend fresh off-the-press of a supply-chain digitisation platform.Given the state of the project (greenfield) and the working environment (start-up), I took the platform through several phases. The initial logic was asynchronous coroutines (event streaming with Kafka), deployed with Docker on Kubernetes.Then, I rebooted the proof-of-concept with Django/DRF (keeping with 3-tier approach and the JSON API) to iterate faster on different business features; and switched to a monolithic application operating sequentially.After that, I followed the principles of domain-driven design (DDD) and lifted the business concepts into separate bounded contexts (i.e. namespaces), thereby promoting isolation between business rules and infrastructure — production was not interrupted during the transition.It was only natural to transition to event-sourcing / CQRS.
