Yes his class is hard, yes his class is demanding, and yes his class is the most rewarding that I attended. Looking back, I should have had to pay double for the opportunity to learn from such an outstanding professor. I am only 3 years removed from his class and I find myself as the Manager of a Start-up company. I am the Manager of EMBERS Green Renovations in Vancouver BC. Strategic planning, Marketing, Operations Management, are the basis of what I have to do on a daily basis. I have to not only voice my opinions daily, but I have to implement these plans and guide the company into a sector of the industry that is unmatched by any other company in Canada. I can honestly say that Dr. Hamilton gave me the tools that I needed to Excel in this type of environment so soon out of college. I have a voice that this great professor helped me to develop. I have to make hard decisions based on incomplete or nonexistent data. His strategic planning course provided me the confidence to make these decisions. I was always willing to take the road less traveled and never backed down from a challenge. I think that is why when given the opportunity to learn from the hardest, most demanding professor I took it. Dr. Hamilton lived up to this reputation; in doing so made me a stronger, more rounded individual. To the future students: challenge yourself and dive into his courses with all that you have. I promise you will be as grateful as me after your out in the workforce. To Dr. Hamilton I have told you this before, but thank you for being so demanding. Without your guidance I could have squandered my abilities. Instead, I am the driver of change in an unsure market; and feel confident that I can make this business a success and change the future of residential construction bylaws."
