Eager to start making money and get busy living, I rushed right out and joined the ranks of the working class, in lieu of taking advantage of scholarships or the military.After spending more than a decade in several manufacturing positions, I finally climbed my way up the ladder to Production Manager in a small candle factory, where I remained for a couple of years. But something was missing. Having obtained a ton of skills, I still felt like I wasn’t doing what I was meant to. Then, Eureka! A completely random conversation with a friend spawned an idea for a creation that we were certain would make us millionaires. So, we quit our jobs and spent the next 6 months developing and patenting it. Although the product itself was fantastic, we discovered that there’s more to a successful start-up than just a great idea and a working prototype. However, the lessons we learned were priceless! I humbly returned to the workforce by way of Carlisle Brake and Friction, starting off as a temporary employee moving storage racks in the warehouse. After a few months, some positions opened in CNC machining. Even though I had no experience, my work ethic gained me a shot, and finally I stumbled onto the path of what I am cut out to do. Within 2 years, I migrating to the Quality department as a Receiving Inspector. Along the way, I mastered the use of many gages and measurement systems, including the manual CMM. This soon evolved into running and programming the DCC CMM, and the responsibility of overseeing Gage Lab operations. The academic fire that I quenched as a youngster has also been rekindled. I am closing in on my Associates Degree in Engineering Technology.By no means am I done learning and progressing, but at long-last, I know where I shine.
