ART GALLERY COORDINATOR: As the curator of the Atlantic Cape Community College Art Gallery (since 1999), my responsibilities include the scheduling, organizing and hanging all exhibits, designing invitations and advertising material, press releases, catering receptions, managing student staff, vacuuming, washing windows and taking out the trash…… Exhibits of two and three dimensional works include one man and group shows by professional, established artists, mainly from New Jersey, Philadelphia and surrounding counties, our annual faculty & staff show, the annual student show and gallery talks on occasion. The Gallery is totally non-profit, taking zero percent of any sales. All exhibits are free and open to the public. Gallery hours change by semester and the availabilty of student Gallery Sitters. The Atlantic Cape Art Gallery is not a commercial exhibition venue. We are a showcase of the visual arts for the community and our student body, offering the experience of viewing diverse genre, media and techniques. I see the Gallery as a changing visual library. Presently, I want to exhibit work with a “bite to it”. The work could be subtle or sensational. The “bite can simply evolve from the medium/technique used. As an artist and teacher , I have a need to show my students and our devoted, regular visitors something that gives them pause. COURSES: The first class I taught at Atlantic Community College in the Fall Semester of 1993 was Fundamental Drawing. Then I was given the challenge, of teaching a Humanities course, Art Appreciation, which is still the hardest class to teach. Then came Introduction to the Visual Arts, another Humanities course. Studio arts course, Color & 2-D Design, Figure Drawing and Intermediate Drawing, both 200 level courses and a great pleasure to teach when offered. Workshops taught include Figure Drawing, Portraits from life or photos in color or black & white media, Beginning Drawing and Caricatures

FREELANCE ARTIST: CARICATURES and PORTRAITS:The human figure and face, along with the human condition has always been the subject matter that most interests me for at least 45 years.Since art colleges do not teach how to draw caricatures, I learned this craft on the Atlantic City Boardwalk at the Louis Artist Village, a landmark for many years. I have been drawing caricatures for 35 years, entertaining guests at parties, conventions, benefits and in the summers in Atlantic City, Wildwood and presently in Cape May for the past 7 Summer seasons. I set up evenings, weather permitting, at the front of the Washington Square Mall, by the horse & carriage rides, across from the pedestrian Washington Street Mall. (Washington Street and Ocean Ave). Cape May is a fabulous town, full of history. I have drawn many delightful, gracious families & couples, lots of swell kids and, of course, the adorable one & two year olds who can’t sit still for 30 seconds. (I just have to sort of follow them as they squirm and look at everything but me, until I show them their drawing. It’s just wonderful when a child looks at me with big astonished eyes and says WOW THAT’S COOL! I often get a big smile and a sincere THANKS, I’M SUPERMAN! ! My serious works, as mentioned, deal with human emotions. Recently I have slowly started to try work in an abstract manner. Abstraction is a lonely endeavor. It is just you, your emotions.
