The Regimental Air Officer, and Assistant, serve as the principal advisor to the Regimental Commander for integration of all functions of aviation during ground combat operations and training.He/she is responsible for the preparation, tactical employment, leadership, and safety of the Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) team members, to include: Forward Air Controllers, Joint Terminal Attack Controllers, Joint Fires Observers and Radio Operators. He/she is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of training exercises that require aviation assets during infantry unit pre-deployment training programs. He/she is responsible for planning and supervising the execution of all training exercises involving Ground Combat Element and Air Combat Element integration to ensure efficient and timely aviation asset support to the infantry units. Additionally, he/she facilitates the detailed coordination and control of air power against hostile targets in close proximity to friendly forces during combat and training operations.

Served as a CH-53D helicopter pilot including three combat deployments to Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. Flew in excess of 1000 hours in this aircraft type, awarded 10 Naval Air Medals, and the Naval Achievement Medal.

Introductory pilot training in the CH-53E, Sikorsky Super Stallion, aircraft. Responsibilities included extensive classroom instruction, aircraft simulator events, as well as instruction in the operation and employment of the aircraft in Marine Corps operations.

Advanced level helicopter pilot training student, responsible for progressing through the U.S. Navy prescribed aviation training syllabus. This training included extensive classroom work, instruction in and out of the cockpit of the TH-57 aircraft.

I was assigned to the United States Naval Academy as a member of the Class of 2005. During my time at the Naval Academy I received instruction on military leadership, history, professional writing, ethics, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and earned an Undergraduate Degree in Oceanography. My leadership opportunities involved serving as 1st Company Executive Officer, Battalion Executive Officer, Squad Leader, and Company Drill Officer. As a capstone project for my degree I conducted a year long study of the water quality in the Severn River, and presented my findings to the Oceanography Department Faculty.

From August to October 2000, I attended Recruit Training at Great Lakes, IL. After completing Recruit Training, I was assigned to Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek, SC. I completed training as a Machinist Mate (MM), and was promoted to the rank of Machinist Mate 3rd Class (MM3). Following Machinist Mate training, I was assigned to Nuclear Power School to learn about Nuclear Propulsion. During this training I was selected to receive the Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) appointment to the United States Naval Academy Class of 2005.
