President - GeologistMagnet Geological Jul 2008 - PresentBronte, TexasOG & Carbon Sequestration, Critical Minerals, Geohazards, Agriculture - Hydrology, Sustainability, Pedology - From 2008 through 2015 Magnet was an oil and gas contract operating company with drilling and completion supervision service company. With the supply driven price correction, in 2016 Magnet was reformulated as an oil and gas consulting company focusing on geological oriented drilling practices. Experience in Eastern Shelf of Permian Basin and Rio Grande Rift Valley of far West Texas. Local, national and international client base. 2017-20 included assisting in the development and discovery of a 200+ BOPD re-entry in Nolan County, Texas, Drilling Supervision for wells in the very remote Rio Grande Rift Valley, including completion services. Also included surface geology maps, seismic acquisition supervision and desert mountain road design and construction. Develop and market successful Coke County workover and frac prospect. Develop prospect and purchase 3D seismic in Coke County, Texas, Develop two additional prospects. Oversee and manage full time landman for the leasing of the prospects. 2020 to present added critical element and agricultural geological consulting - water, bedrock, soils, forage testing. Evaluated, geology, geochemistry and testing of large areas of West Texas for critical elements along the Round Top Volcanic / Critical Element trend. Assisted client in Polioencephalomalacia (sulfate poisoning) protocol in cattle. Bedrock, soil and water testing on ranches, in part used to derive vitamin and mineral supplements for cattle. Assisted client in goat treatment protocol after appropriate water tests. Beginning in 2023 began researching Carbon Sequestration projects and currently developing an 80,000 acre Carbon Sequestration Project in Texas. Continuing to work on O&G, CO2 Sequestration, Agricultural and Critical Element Projects.

Managing OwnerHighland Vallis Ranch Jan 2021 - Nov 2023Cripple Creek, Colorado, United StatesColorado cow - calf cattle ranch. 9,000 acres, all-natural grass-fed beef.Using my geological background, in the 1990's I developed an innovative livestock rotation program for the Texas Ranch based on the likely natural development of grasses and buffalo on the native rangelands. This resulted in an 80% decrease in feed costs and increasing grass volumes and increasing weaning weights. It is sustainable, conservation oriented and migratory (meaning happier less stressed cows). After 21 years the system worked beautifully. It is now my goal run a sustainable or nearly totally sustainable ranch in Colorado.

This resulted in an 80% decrease in feed costs and increasing grass volumes and increasing weaning weights. It is sustainable, conservation oriented and migratory (meaning happier less stressed cows). After 20 years the system has worked beautifully. It is very environmentally amenable and drought resistant. This project has been moved to the Highland Vallis ranch in Colorado.

Owner / ConsultantMud Log Evaluation Jun 2014 - Jan 2021In Open Hole Log Interpretation, subject to lithology and water salinity (Rw), you are essentially normalizing Resistivity to Porosity. You are asking, do I have enough resistivity for this porosity to be productive. And if so, to what degree, i.e. Sw.In mud logging, we all know "gas" can indicate oil. The question is, how much "gas" does it take to be oil productive, and to what degree? The fundamentals of total gas interpretation from a mud log are intuitive and as follows:1. More Oil yields More Total Gas2. A Higher GOR Reservoir yields more Total Gas3. A thicker Drilling Fluid (Higher Funnel Vis) Yields less GasThe combination of the above in conjunction with understanding the OOIP formula and the variables of porosity and permeability can greatly aid in the use of mud logs in estimating productivity of a reservoir, i.e. Sw. This interpretation method can be used for OLD Mud Logs as well as new ones. This information is not intended to replace open hole logs but rather as an aid to you in understanding what the mud log is actually telling you. In a place without open hole logs, this can be a very helpful tool.
