General Biology instruction for non-majors. Three sections a week. Major duties involve conveying information in a concise and understandable manner for everyone in each class, lesson planning, grading, and lab prep/clean up. Another major task that is included is making time to be able to meet with students to assist with any misunderstandings or confusion.

After going on a service trip to the University of Oklahoma's Selman Living Lab in Freedom Oklahoma, I learned of a pit fall trap study in progress at the site and immediately became interested. Soon I took over the project which involved collection of traps ever two weeks, resetting traps, and identification of specimen to the family level. In May I applied for the STLR grant to receive funding for the project and was awarded! I continue the project even now and always love going back out into the field!This study is now monitoring the temperature and humidity in the areas around the traps over time in order to determine whether or not these factors play a key role in spatial distribution of the various species collected from the traps.

During my time here I worked with multiple professors on varying projects. To begin with, I started a project with a human dermal fibroblast cell culture in order to determine the affects of taurine on cell proliferation. This provided many skills including sterile technique, proper pipette usage, cell passing, and media preparation. This culminated with a poster presentation at Oklahoma Research Day 2016. Following this I began another project involving cell culture. This was to determine the affects of excessive phenylalinine supplementation on cell migration/proliferation in order to study the disease phenylketonuria. From this I presented posters at Oklahoma research day 2017, the National Conference on Undergraduate Research 2017, and the University of Central Oklahoma's CIBER symposium. While involved in the previous project I began working with the invertebrate specialist on campus to dissect Chironomidae larvae and mount their head capsules onto microscope slides in order to identify to species level.

This is a contract-based biotechnology company that works to purify proteins from mammalian and bacterial cell cultures. Have worked on various client contracts in downstream process development. The process genrerally included 3 steps 1: Clarification of harvest (tangential flow filtration, depth filtration, ultracentrifugation), 2: Affinity and polishing (FPLC column packing and unpacking and testing, sample loading, viral inactivation), and 3: analysis (SDS-PAGE, and reports). Record keeping is extremely important as all data will be reported to clients in order to transfer the protocol to manufacturing for the cGMP run
