Born and raised in Fort Apache the Bronx in the 70's. Raised with 9 brothers and sister's. Mom and Dad as well. I faced many challenges that could have lead to an unproductive and lost individual in society.Programs like Unitas in the 70's and United Bronx Parents in the 80's, provided a safe haven in my community for many. This was imperative in my youth and teen years. Due to my circumstances, if not for these programs, I could have chosen another path of life.I see the challenges these kids and families encounter everyday Mind, Body and Soul. I understand when they speak. My passion is to open their eyes to a world that can lead them out of the cycle of poverty and health disparities By providing and collaborating with organizations, that understands the needs and implementing resolutions, teaching and educating by having workshops, hands-on projects, outings, volunteering, conflict resolution, mentorship programs and team work can keep the youth out the juvenile system, promote and empower higher graduation rates for Latinos and African American in East Harlem. To instill positive, productive individuals in society is both, my passion and challenge, but not work, Yet rewarding for me :)
