Jared began his entrepreneurial journey in grade 6, selling snacks to his classmates. His persistence led him to employ a fellow student in high school to help with sales. After dropping out of college to pursue his passion for music—an endeavor that didn’t succeed—he took one of his first job sweeping floors and packing boxes for export at a manufacturing company. Jared quickly moved up to an office role, where within months, he was outperforming colleagues with degrees, making significant sales.With a strong entrepreneurial mindset influenced by lessons from his father, Jared identified a market gap and invented a product called TodPod. He invested over R1.5 million of his own money, maxing out credit cards and overdrafts, even selling his car to fund a trip to Germany to showcase the product at a toy fair—only to return without success. Jared then competed on the Big Break Legacy TV show, where he finished as runner-up, narrowly missing out on a R5 million investment. He later appeared on Dragons’ Den, securing what appeared to be a R1 million investment, which ultimately turned out to be a R300,000 loan.Jared faced several setbacks, including retrenchment, a divorce, and multiple failed business ventures. Despite these challenges, he built a successful career, gaining experience with global retail giants and brands such as AB InBev, BMW, Total, Durex, Dettol, Scholl, Strepsils, Abbott, and working with renowned retailers like Walmart, Target, Amazon, Jumia, Dis-Chem, PNP, Takealot, and Woolworths.
