Chasidy Karpiuk, MA, RCC, CCC has worked as a counsellor and has done many types of volunteering and is committed to building community. She feels connected to continuing to improve the lives of individuals, couples, families and community. Chasidy has worked in the mental health field in various areas which has given her a wide array of experience with different populations. Chasidy worked for Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCHA) from 2003- 2008 as a Health Care Worker on the downtown east side of Vancouver and Psychiatric Worker at three locations: Vancouver Detoxification Centre, The Emergency Psychiatric Ward and The Brief Intervention Unit at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). In addition to having her private practise in North Vancouver, she worked as a Case Manager/Counsellor for VCHA until July 2008. This position involved working with individuals with psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse issues. In addition, Chasidy coached team members and management about effectively managing individuals with these illnesses. Chasidy has facilitated many groups in topics such as: parenting, stress management, anger management, self care, post-traumatic stress disorder, safety, coping with triggers, dealing with addictions (self and family members) and how to assess an individual using the Mental Status Exam. Chasidy also has experience working with the Fraser Health Authority doing counselling with high risk youth at a drop in medical clinic called The Burnaby Youth Clinic. Chasidy employs the use of many modalities in her practise including: brief therapy (solution focused model), Adlerian counselling and lifestyle analysis, cognitive behavioural therapy, play therapy and art techniques, parenting coaching, counselling on addictions and substance abuse, and clinical hypnosis.
