Not even once did a guidance counselor mention to me that playing with LEGO could one day be a viable career option, yet here I am doing just that, and the road to get here could not have prepared me better.Over the years I've always orbited around the fields of shipping and warehousing, generally in some form of management role. The freight industry in general is one of common sense and helping people. It has rules to it, and the more efficiently you manage it the better things are, both for yourself and your customers. Efficiency and running a tight ship are always things I've done the best, but up until now it's always been for others.Running a store that deals in Lego has been all about organization, efficiency, and helping people. You'd be amazed how well warehousing and shipping experience prepares you for it. Create an organizational system where any kind of Lego can come in, get sorted, built, and put out on the shelves. Efficiently manage that system and your team so everything goes quickly and smoothly. Help people find the Lego that is right for them, or the person they are buying for. Now that my store is up and running well, and I have a great team in place that can run things, I can't wait to see what the future holds for my next opportunity.
