A bit about me.2007 – Mid-way through uni, Mad Men came on TV (quick caveat, I enjoyed the showminus the misogyny, sexism, racism, anti-Semitism and all the other oppressive isms)but having already made the decision to study marketing, advertising and PR Iappreciated the historical perspective of Madison Avenue, NY and the evolution of thead man and one woman in Peggy Olsen. I say all of this because my first role inadvertising, was as a media planner at a big agency based in Charlotte St, and I wasshocked at how far too present, those ‘isms’ still were. So, after 3 years of being thetoken black person, and often times the token black women, I was over it.2013 – Having been a youth mentor since the age of 18, leaving the advertisingindustry behind (or so I thought), I ventured into the social sector working with LocalAuthorities, Grant Makers, Charities and Education Institutions supporting minoritisedand marginalised groups with employability programmes, preparing them for theworking environment so they were informed and prepared, way more than I was at thebeginning. That started my journey into the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion space.2018 – In a moment of serendipity, I found myself back working in the advertisingindustry pushing for change, bridging the gaps and generally being a BOSS!Today I am the Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at adam&eveDDB, I’m on theadvisory board of 3 black-owned SME’s; Blanguage, a creative agency that translates, repurposes and authenticates brand messages through and for Black audiences, TING, set up to ensure every business has a plan in place to welcome marginalised people into their company culture, supporting their wellbeing and career success and The Women’s Association, an organisation supporting young girls andwomen to overcome the far too present barriers in various industries through workshops, professional mentoring and coaching. I am also a mentor for Apprentice Nation andthe NABS Fast Forward Programme.Oh, and I’m also a wife to comedic actor & presenter KG Tha Comedian and mum toa highly emotionally intelligent 6-going on 16-year old, Eniye. My daily confessions - "Always be teachable" & "I belong to me"
