I started out as an engineering technician and have become an accomplished product development engineer with supervisory experience . Led design, prototype and production build teams to achieve OEM customer milestones of time and budget deliverables. Hired, trained, and mentored employees to ensure successful product development and program release. Managed the on-going operations of the Tier 1 Fuel Systems Business Unit Validation, Research and Development Laboratory. Led advanced projects for ultra low permeation fuel filler joints and alternative fuel (E-85) filler systems. Led cross-functional teams to develop new and improved fuel filler system components by providing expertise in the areas of refueling performance, SHED permeation, and durability analysis. Submitted multiple proposals for on-going growth and expansion of the Fuel Systems laboratory infrastructure which reduced budget requirements by $98K. Led laboratory research and experimentation to correlate Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation. Supported customer teams by providing validation expertise and presenting results to customer. Developed and implemented multiple cost effective proposals to meet validation requirements resulting in more than 40% savings.
Both developed and implemented laboratory infrastructure in compliance with CARB and EPA regulations to support all required customer fuel component and system validation. Developed internal testing and validation specifications to confirm fuel filler assembly design integrity. Led validation of the GMT900 disc design fuel filler. Led cross-functional team to develop next generation fuel filler component design for all customer programs to meet Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) requirements. Developed impact and cyclical durability testing for Toyota and GM proposed fuel filler component designs. Developed internal working model as a functional tool to estimate fuel permeation performance which eliminated experimental costs in the early design phase. Supported outside customer and vendor laboratories by sharing knowledge learned for improving validation and customer relations.
Led cross-functional teams in design and release of the chassis fuel and evaporative emissions system for all Dodge truck platforms. Developed On-board Refueling Vapor Recovery systems and packaged On Board Diagnostics (OBD) II system designs to meet Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) II requirements for future product. Developed component design enhancements and cost reduction proposals. Generated structure and solid model studies with the use of the CATIA and Computer-Aided Design systems. Evaluated supplier product quality by utilizing Statistical Process Control, design and process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA.) Evaluated system and component capability for product sourcing.
Led cross-functional teams in design and release of the Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) plumbing, condenser, compressor and body ventilators for the 2002 model year Dodge Ram truck. Performed climate control testing to determine optimal HVAC system performance. Responsible for engineering launch support of the 1998 Dodge Ram truck HVAC system in Detroit and St. Louis truck assembly plants.
Developed and performed component and system testing of the HVAC systems for current and future Mazda and Ford product lines. Set up instrumentation and supported vehicle all weather testing on location. Performed wind tunnel testing and conducted Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) testing with the use of hydraulic and electro-dynamic vibration. Investigated warranty claims by researching Part Quality Information and conducting in-field studies to resolve current issues and apply to future product.
