connecting people with design//Per my own definition, to design is to problem solve. As a designer I've been tasked with solving a boat load of problems for brands. Problems like: "How do we revive the energy of a professional sports arena without offending the rabid and nostalgic fanbases of the teams that play there?" Answer: Bring back the OG "GARDEN" logo as a historical snapshot homage to the legendary building that the newer arena replaced. Problems like: "Can we build an entire retail ecosystem to distribute never-before-sold Olympic Team digital collectibles (see - WTF is an NFT?) to fans that can't attend the Olympics due to a global pandemic?", "In four weeks?", "Oh, and make it fun?" Answer: Build a full collection of mascot NFTs, create a shop for TeamGB that accepts cc's and crypto for payment, and curate a live-action art studio in the middle of London for a world renowned artist to create artwork every day of the Games that will be turned into NFTs.Problems like: "What can we do to transform our 30 y.o. niche performance underwear brand into an instantly recognized global leader in individual output sports (ie. running, cycling, xc skiing)? Answer: Reposition and retell the CRAFT of Scandinavia story, creating a new set of standards for identity, messaging, image and style (seen at the Olympics!).Even at home I am constantly faced with challenges like: "How do I coach two soccer teams for my 3 boys in 1 season?" Answer: Rebrand and redesign the town's club program identity and uniforms so other teams know we mean business, then find great asst. coaches like @lisawales and @jamietedford to share the load.Over the years I've become a bit obsessed with aesthetic but the magic still happens in working out the problem.
