About Burr Tyler

I am an analytical and personable educational researcher with over 30 years of experience in program evaluation, teacher training, and student assessment. I am currently Project Director of the evaluation of the NGSS Early Implementers, an initiative funded by the S.D. Bechtel Jr. Foundation to support ten California school districts in implementing the Next Generation Science Standards. I have extensive experience providing professional development to teachers charged with developing, administering, and scoring various types of assessments including multiple choice, constructed response, and performance-based. I have participated in several educational program evaluations, designed instruments, collected and analyzed data, and reported on findings. I have also worked in nonprofit operations and publications development, as a coordinator and editor of documents by contributors from around the world. I am passionate about inquiry- and project-based learning, science education, environmental education, international student exchange, and zero waste. I have volunteered as a Writer Coach at King Middle School in Berkeley and led high school students abroad with the Experiment in International Living.
