Career Break

Health And Well-BeingCareer Break Feb 2022 - PresentLong-Covid :: Rehab and Recovery. Contracted Covid in January 2022. Developed severe cognitive symptoms (Brain Fog, MCI, etc) which impeded ability to lecture, organize course curricula, deliver presentations, moderate group discussions, fundraise, travel. Medical condition necessitated stepping down from Adjunct Lecturer position at Stanford in May 2022, cancelation of Winter 2022 ME421X research seminar.Currently engaged in rehab activities: physical therapy, swimming, biking, yoga, journaling, etc. Partial progress observed, but insufficient recovery by mid-2024 to permit return to formal academic roles, as had hoped. Recommended future treatments: hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), stem cell therapy, guided micro-dosing with psychedelics. Hopeful that I can recover sufficiently in 2025 to allow resumption of teaching and research activities.Ability to travel outside Silicon Valley is limited at present. This section updated 15Sept2024.
