I reported directly to ownership to lead long term strategic revenue and growth planning for new business ventures. I also was tasked with short term change management / implementation of policies and procedures for the 50+ employee company. Some specific tasks were to improve hiring practices and employee retention, manage DOT compliance, risk management and unwind a complex and restrictive business and equipment financing structure. Since incorporation in 1991 Wherry Truck Lines core business was as a for hire contract hauler serving the waste industry and providing bulk transportation for soil and landscape mulch manufacturers In 2011 the owner formed a new business unit focusing on large land clearing projects, timber harvesting, mulching and the production of landscape soils. During my tenure I assisted ownership with negotiating the purchase and financing of a 165 acre agricultural tract, securing FDEP use permit, SFWMD water use permit, special use and re-zoning and financing the purchase of specialized logging equipment. I also created the structure for estimating, submitting bids and project management for land clearing work.

Heavily focused on the Construction Industry, Smith Insurance and Bonds is a closely held boutique firm engaged in providing risk management solutions and surety products for their clients. I joined the firm as a business partner and consultant bringing with me a helpful perspective as it relates to how contractors view purchasing insurance, management of risk and the need for surety bonding. Using this knowledge, I worked with ownership to develop reliable, practical and adaptable solutions including streamlining information gathering during the application process, working to incorporate the use of carrier’s online platforms, opening up additional revenue opportunities by adding additional carrier markets and the establishment of a satellite office.

Reported directly to company President, and led area office that focused on a wide range of specialized commercial and healthcare projects including those subject to review by AHCA. The foundation of this role was as Project Executive maintaining high visibility throughout project, solutions based oversight of project management staff and constant outreach to the client and design team which translated into a steady backlog of work that was 85% repeat clients. I also had a heavy focus on strategies to achieve new business, and build strong client partnerships including developing leads, preconstruction services, estimating for lump sum hard bid and CM at risk engagements.

Owner’s representative on the development team involved in a $125 million dollar expansion to existing 45 acre senior living community with individual projects in excess of $40 million. In conjunction with the Vice President of development and executive management planed and directed a wide variety of construction projects including high end residential towers, assisted living , skilled nursing facility (AHCA), healthcare, hospitality projects, championship golf course, central energy plant, site work and development infrastructure. I was also led a team that directed capital maintenance program and facility renovation projects on existing 45 acre campus. A majority of the projects were subject to review by AHCA.

Principle duties were to assist the division manager with the supervision of staff to prepare quotations & technical submittals for contractors. Analyzed project schedules to ensure that production goals, materials purchasing and deliveries meet customer established deadlines. Responsible for negotiating contract pricing with the suppliers, manufacturers & distributors in the procurement of specialty products for complex commercial, institutional and healthcare projects.
