About Darryl Butcher (Frsa/Cipr)

My career is defined by a passion for inclusivity, giving a voice and opportunity to people of all backgrounds. I’m a storyteller and leader who loves innovation and being creative all whilst wanting to makes a positive difference to see individuals grow, develop and succeed. I love capturing the imagination of consumers and media alike for charitable causes and commercial endeavours. Scratching an itch, I worked as a Charity CEO for the University of York’s Graduate Students' Association, gaining invaluable bigger picture expertise over almost three years. Currently and previously, I’ve lead communication teams across a number of sectors. A few examples; Head of Communications at Science Museum Group, Variety the Children's Charity, Time Warner Media, the Community Channel and NHS Kingston; a senior PR at Sky and Channel 4; and as Entertainment Editor for celebrated bon viveur Felix Dennis. I provide experience and expertise in; - Third Sector organisational leadership- All aspects of charity organisational strategy, governance and operational management - PR campaign planning, delivery and evaluation- media relations- public affairs - change management - stakeholder engagement- internal and external communication- social media marketing and engagement- content marketing- issues and crisis management- parliamentary briefing and liaison- corporate communicationsI offer an award-winning creative pedigree in delivering highly effective campaigns for commercial, start up and third sector organisations. Over several years I’ve alternated between working in interim and permanent roles and as a freelance; working in CEO, Senior Communications and Consultancy positions to help launch and support a multitude of start ups, social enterprise and charity organisations on all aspects of brand, campaigns and marketing strategy. Prior to this I had the opportunity to develop my entrepreneurial streak and passion for creating ‘social impact’, establishing what became an award-winning east London ‘social’ marketing agency, 'Bold Creative'. Over a rollercoaster few years we delivered young people led initiatives and campaigns for DCLG, DCMS and Office of Counter Terrorism along with 26 London local authorities - culminating with winning a BAFTA and giving a voice to millions of young people on the issues that mattered to them. Ever keen to support an inclusive approach in all I do, I previously took a role as a non-exec Director for UK charity PTA UK, working to increase engagement amongst Dads & socially excluded parents.
