Bogdan is a dedicated molecular biology and biotechnology student with a passion for research and improving healthcare accessibility for Chicago’s vast immigrant and migrant diaspora. Having grown up witnessing the healthcare challenges faced by immigrant communities, Bogdan developed a clear mission: to ensure that everyone, regardless of background or language proficiency, has access to the quality care they need.As a medical assistant under Dr. Ana Gavrilovici, Bogdan gained firsthand experience in bridging cultural and language barriers to improve patient outcomes. This role involved assisting with medical and surgical procedures, transferring over 2,000 patient records during an EHR transition, and providing bilingual patient education—all of which reinforced Bogdan’s commitment to serving underrepresented populations.In addition to medical experience, Bogdan has contributed to scientific research through his DOE and NSF-funded work as a Research Fellow at the Center for Biofilm Engineering, focusing on sustainable algal lipid-derived fuel sources. As the Orientation Manager and Teaching Assistant at North Park University, Bogdan has led teams and facilitated programs to support first-generation students, further demonstrating a strong commitment to inclusivity and community support.With a goal of becoming a physician, Bogdan is driven to advocate for equitable healthcare access, particularly for immigrant communities. The diverse experiences in both healthcare and leadership continue to shape Bogdan’s vision of a more compassionate and accessible healthcare system.
