After running a sideline computer maintenance company back in my university days I moved to Thames to build the company full time. We focused on computer sales, upgrades and repairs, as well as on-site support and network consultancy.After running this for two years I wanted to get away from the management side of things which was taking up a large part of my day, and return to the tech side. I moved down to Dunedin and started at the Otago Regional Council where I worked for two years focusing on initially on GIS and computer support and then moving into a programming role building MS Access database applications.The frustrations of working for a Government organisation led me to the corporate world where I landed a web development role at eMedia Ltd.I worked my way through the ranks there soon becoming the Lead Programmer, Chief Technical Architect, and then the Development Manager over the period of nearly 8 years. We worked on various technologies, but mostly focused on the Microsoft development platforms, including classic ASP, and ASP.NET.I then worked at Straylight Studios, a games development house focusing on Meaningful Play, and this allowed me to work in an industry that I've dreamed of ever since I was about 13. I'd been developing my own games and game engines as an Indie game developer for some so this was a great way to put those skills that I learned (such as in C++ and DirectX) to good use.After a year at Straylight I moved to Intergen as a Senior Developer, where I lead the Enterprise Applications team in Dunedin for 5 and a half years.I was then approached by Runaway (a games division of NHNZ) to work as a Senior Platform Developer to work with the team building a game platform with which to create all of their future games upon. I'm currently running the dev team for a new Mobile VR game built for the Google Daydream platform.Specialties: .NET, C++, DirectX, Unity3D, web technologies (including xHTML, CSS, Javascript, XSLT).
