I supervised seven department managers in engineering, sales, production, construction, contract administration, health and safety, and accounting.One of my most notable achievements entailed smoothly leading the business relocation from Toronto to St. Catharines. I negotiated with personnel to ensure the coordination and maintenance of critical resources, ensuring capability and profitability. I contributed to reducing operating costs by 50%, strategically leading the organization to focus on field erected products rather than shop manufactured products (i.e. pressure vessels), which resulted in lower competition and higher profit margins.Further, I spearheaded the qualification process to attain ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification, which produced a stable operating platform to manage the business. This role enabled me to integrate my engineering training with my trade experience to deploy design and construction of field erected storage tanks. I coordinated subcontractors for supply of fabricated components as required. I significantly increased business activity and profitability and was successful at negotiating the sale of the business to Canadian Erectors Limited in 1980. In 1983 the business operations were discontinued as Canadian Erectors purchased TIW.
