I worked on a backend team at Paytronix for three years. For the first 2.5 years, I worked on a team dedicated mostly to our API, payment processing, and external application integration, with a small amount of frontend user-facing websites. In the last year of this, I was primarily focused on improving the security and stability of the API. I implemented a hash-based message authentication code implementation to improve security of our mobile app integrations, and worked with our data science team to develop real-time tracking of security incidents through machine learning processing of our logs. I also implemented various caching techniques throughout the system to improve response times.My final 6 months at Paytronix were spent on infrastructure projects to facilitate the move of our system into a Kubernetes-based application from manually managed servers. As one part of this, I used Consul to create a generalized leader election system for our singleton services.

As a service desk employee, I am constantly working directly with clients to provide technical experience in solving software misuse and malfunctions. This is a high-stress, customer facing position that I have chosen to take on alongside being a full-time student to further my career and gain a better understanding of how software is used.

Through TISP I became a mentor to a high school FIRST Robotics team. I provided all programming advice for the team, and instructed members of the team in learning Java. Additionally, I visited local high schools to inspire students in the pursuit of a STEM career.

The features that I was responsible for are live and in use by NextWave Hire’s clients. Below is a summary of some of the deliverables I worked on in the capacity of a product developer, product manager and software architect.Product Development● Built a critical lead capture and drip email marketing tool from the ground up which is currently in use by a few customers, such as 2nd Time Around (http://www.2ndtimearound.com/careers)● Created a content aggregation tool to automatically scrape NextWave Hire clients' social media accounts for content related to their recruitment marketing efforts● Developed a business intelligence and analytics tool related to candidate engagement and performance of client content● Worked on general maintenance and upkeep of the codebase and platform● Responsible for a significant portion of quality assurance testing for new features, and regression testing of existing features● Developed a chrome extension to allow clients to easily access their content creation workflowsProduct Management● Collaborated with the cofounder and CTO on optimizing the product for better user experience● Developed user interfaces to increase candidate engagement with client’s content● Developed requirements for drip email products based on experiences as a candidate and peer experiences as candidatesSoftware Architecture● Built a career page crawler from scratch● Created the celery server stack framework for the product● Performance optimization of entire platform by moving memory intensive tasks to the background environment, as well as refactoring old code

I worked here for four summers, and was promoted to a sergeant lifeguard after only two summers. As sergeant, I oversaw the other lifeguards (up to seven) when the head guard was not present.
