The Climate Savers Computing Initiative seeks to reduce the power consumption of PCs and servers by over 50% by 2010, through a combination of increased hardware efficiency and adoption of power-management features. It is a broad-based non-profit consortium with computer hardware and software companies, component manufacturers, major purchasers, environmental groups and other NGOs, and governmental support. I led the drive at Google to establish the Initiative together with Intel (and over 40 other companies at the public launch).
