During my professional career, I faced many challenges and needed to adjust to different employers and subject fields. During the past 11 years, the centre of my personal and professional life has been Mozambique, where I was granted permanent residence. During these years, my work focussed on peace process, reform of public administration, good governance, as well as decentralization and municipal development. Research and consultancies, as well as teaching assignments at the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) enriched my professional experience. Thus I was able to acquire some skills: • Analytical and research capacity with regard to socio-economic, political, cultural and administrative structures and development processes in Southern Africa (Focus: Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique);•Strategizing, design and implementation of programme and project cycles, with specific reference to decentralization, local government, political and economic and political governance, transparency and public sector reform;•Monitoring of context and project / programme implementation, evaluation;•Project management skills (including project cycle management, human and financial resources, archives and documentation);•Building, mentoring, motivating and leading teams;•Inter-personal and inter-cultural communicative competence, negotiation skills;•Writing and documentation skills.Approx. 170 publications (books, articles in periodicals, contributions to anthologies, handbooks, and conference proceedings, occasional and working-papers) and unpublished studies as author, co-author and editor), in German, English and Portuguese. At this phase of my life, I see myself increasingly subsituting the normal and tele-lenses with which I looked at the world, by a wide angle lense, enjoying what I had missed to not to see and discover, including topics, cultures and countries different from previous experience.Specialties: Specialties?
