I promoted and produced the six week Cates Park concert series as well as Deep Cove Daze, a one day community music festival featuring some of the hottest local indie acts in Vancouver. This job allowed me to explore my entrepreneurial interests in combination with my love for live entertainment.This position required me to utilize a diverse set of skills. Throughout the summer I conversed with our stakeholders, actively recruited sponsors, managed volunteers, designed promotional materials, provided on site management, and perfromed many other functions that are required to hold a successful music festival. This job was minimally supervised, allowing me to take hold of the project and utilize my creativity to grow the brand.My favourite part if this job was that it challenged me in ways that I had never been challenged before. This was the first opportunity that I had to screen and recommend both staff and talent to be hired on to the project. Interviewing potential partners reinforced the importance of putting forth a positive corporate image. However, being in this position also allowed me to see a great deal of creativity in others, and resulted in creating new relationships that I would not have otherwise been afforded. One can never underestimate the power of networking.Overall I enjoyed this job a lot. It has better prepared me for my future career endeavours.

The Edwards Mentorship Program links students with business professionals in a mentor/protege relationship. Each year, students sign up for the program with the aspirations of learning more about their chosen field, how to get their dream job, and much much more. This student run program provides valuable experiences to all that are involved.The mentorship directors facilitate this program, recruiting mentors and proteges, creating appropriate pairings, and also facilitating mentorship through a number of events. I took a lead role in planning and executing both the Meet & Greet at the start of the year (where the mentors and proteges are first introduced), and the Edwards Mentorship Appreciation Luncheon where we thank the mentors for contributing to the program and making it such a success.
