I am proud to share that I have started a new role as Sr. Director, Infrastructure and Operations within BioMarin. I will lead a global team responsible for BioMarin's Infrastructure footprint.

BioMarin leads the biotechnology industry in delivering therapies for chronic and degenerative genetic conditions that reduce patients' quality of life and shorten life spans. Responsible for providing leadership and networking / systems engineering expertise for Qualified and Validated systems. Managing a team of Sr. Systems Engineers who have the primary responsibility for Infrastructure and Operations supporting Qualified and Validated Manufacturing and Lab environments and practices. • Creating, updating, and following SOP’s, TRS’s, SDD’s, and related Qualification processes. • Coordinating with Computer Systems Validation (CSV) group to ensure that change and audit controls meet regulatory requirements. • Project and problem management, including effectively identifying and communicating goals, risks, stakeholders, timelines, options, and costs. • Coordinating with BioMarin service providers and partners, and other IT and business unit personnel on departmental projects.

Managed VMware, SAN, Active Directory, Firewall, DNS, DHCP, E-Mail Security, Enterprise Mobility, DFS, BitLocker, and Group Policy environments, overseeing projects from conception through production. • Architected and delivered the upgrade from MS Active Directory 2003 to MS Active Directory 2008 R2.• Reduced 54 DCs to 6, drastically decreasing total cost of ownership (TCO), and receiving the highest health level rating from MS Professional Services.• Architected and managed deployment of PointSec Full Disk Encryption to all firm managed laptops.• Designed and built new Internet gateway appliance and firewall security solution.• Identified and delivered Trust Digital to provide Enterprise support of iDevice management.• Collaborated with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to ensure security policies and procedures were enforced and technologically supportable as well as with the Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) to support and maintain the CaseSmart hosted environment. • Designed and built the new DNS and DHCP infrastructure centralizing management of services and further reducing TCO.• Built and maintained the Citrix infrastructure and virtualized desktop environment and played key role in the virtualization of the Littler server farm, reaching 95% total server virtualization.• Participated in the design, planning, and upgrade of the EMC CX500 SAN to the Clariion CX3-80 SAN, providing higher density storage and consuming a smaller power usage footprint.

Oversaw entire IT environment for the firm’s immigration practice, successfully forecasting and managing departmental budget by introducing standard purchasing practices for desktop and server hardware as well as playing an instrumental role in the RFP process, ensuring compliance with requirements. • Successfully implemented Double-Take to provide a real-time replication and failover environment for the MS Exchange messaging environment.• Planned and executed MS Active Directory 2000 upgrade to AD 2003.• Assumed lead responsibility for moving the INS Zoom client management environment from an in-house platform to a co-located facility.• Designed, planned, and installed VMware cluster on an HP Blade cluster with EMC Clariion storage.• Architected and built Exchange 2003 messaging infrastructure, converting from Lotus Notes, providing a richer collaborative environment for employees.
