At Lifetime, our tooling group fills the role as an internal automation integrator. I work closely with our R&D, Manufacturing, Production, and Maintenance departments to design and create the machines that manufacture our products. We take these projects from the concept phase all the way through to their implementation on the manufacturing floor. Safety, quality, ergonomics, cycle times, and budgets are the most important guidelines to my machines.These machines can either be all-inclusive for one product, or they can be one step of the manufacturing process. They can also be stand-alone machines or in-line, where the product flows from one machine to another. The machines themselves include pneumatic/hydraulic cylinders and actuators, servo motors, sensors, cameras, and custom machined/laser cut parts to adequately complete the operation.In the last few years, Lifetime has been developing more automated equipment based on the labor shortage, quality, and cycle time. I have had the opportunity to develop and design all types of machines, including automation cells, where the raw part is fed in, and a finished part is fed out. Because of the quantity of products that we make, many of our machines have been designed to have flexible tooling and be able to run "mixed-model", where multiple types of products can flow into one machine. Many times, this means that a part is scanned or read when entering the machine or after it is fixtured, and then the program for that part is performed. I also have experience creating automation solutions for blow molding applications.We commonly work with Fanuc robots to achieve processes that require more articulation and flexibility. Lately, we have also been learning to program these robots with the use of the teach pendant within Roboguide, which is Fanuc's software for programming their robots in a virtual space. I also have extensive experience designing end of arm tools (EOATs) for these robots.

During the summer of 2017, I, along with a group of interns, helped the company cut about 20 hours of lead time per unit in the manufacturing of mobile campers. Sterling ATM is the manufacturer of the campers owned by the company Happier Camper. Many skills were developed including the use of Kanban stations, poka-yoke and other 5S practices, level loading of work cells, prioritization of projects for maximum impact with the lowest effort, as well as hands-on manufacturing skills.

I was a full-time representative of the LDS Church for two years in Europe. I had the opportunity many times to serve as a leader of small groups of missionaries as well as training new missionaries once they came out to Europe.
