“This is how we’ve always done it” is probably the most dangerous phrase in the English language.Personally, when I hear that phrase it’s all I can do to keep from giving a Dan Levy look and just walking away. You’ve seen the GIF’s, so I know you can relate. What bothers me the most about it is the complete lack of creativity and open-mindedness of the ones who say it. This lack of creativity and keeping things “status quo” is why some businesses and organizations get left behind. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Right? Sadly, this is not right and if you are not changing, growing, and staying ahead of shifts in the economy and industry trends, then your business or organization will ceased to be relevant. This is where I shine and do my best work. I love to see the transformation and journey organizations experience when there is a change from how they’ve “always done it”. My passion for transformation comes from early in my career when I was working full-time and going to school to finish my undergraduate degree. While working the night shift, I was tasked with doing routine check on equipment and conducting radiation surveys. This usually involved writing down the same information on a log sheet that was reviewed by a supervisor and filed away to be forgotten. The routine needed to change and this was the project to fuel a passion I didn’t know I needed. From that moment 15 years ago, I knew that transformational projects would be the path I wanted to follow. My goal is to reduce the amount of waste by using paper because that’s “how it’s always been done”, and to reduce the overall workload of employees while increasing accuracy and efficiency. I love working on transformational projects so much that I pursued the Project Management Professional certification to give me the soft and business skills needed to ensure project success. Additionally, I have had the privilege to take on information technology skills like programming in python, MATLAB, HTML, CSS, and bootstrap, and I was able to become a Systems Security Certified Practitioner. With these skills, I can communicate with both technical and nontechnical audiences, and can bridge communication gaps of those parties. I am so passionate about business transformations that I am pursuing my MBA so I can bring long-term strategic revolutions to business and organizations. If you would like to schedule a time to discuss how I can be the transformational hero for your business, please feel free to reach out to me below.
